Tour Opportunities 

 

Prior to visiting tours taking place in Saint Thomas Hospital, students need to read and fill out a form. The form link will be sent to members. 

 

Robotic Surgery Tour

What: Medicine Club members wear scrubs and enter operating rooms.

When: Friday, September 12th, 2014, after school from 3:10 to 5:10. 

Where: Saint Thomas West Hospital (4220 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205) 

Why: Students will see a surgeon's area of work.

Specialist in charge: Mrs. Greene.

 

"I very much enjoyed the Robotics Tour at Saint Thomas West Hospital.  I enjoyed learning about the different careers in the medical field. getting a first hand experience with real doctors and real surgeries was very cool.  Also, I enjoyed being in actual surgical rooms and learning about the types of equipment that they use and how it may be changing in the future. Pathology Tour 

What: Medicine Club members visit a pathology lab. They also touch various organs such as the appendix, colon, and heart.

When: Friday, November 14th, 2014, after school from 3:30 to 5:30. 

Where: Saint Thomas West Hospital. (4220 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205) 

Why: Students will learn about the field of pathology.

Physical Therapy Tour 

What: Medicine Club members visit Dr. Harrel to learn more about physical therapy. 

When: Friday, December 12th, 2014, after school from 3:10 to 5:10. 

Where: Saint Thomas Hospital. (4220 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205)

Why: Students will advance their understanding of physical therapy. 

Specialist in charge: Dr. Harrell. 

 

 

 

Workforce Development Tour 

What: Prior to becoming nurses in hospitals, nurses need to go through training. This tour demonstrates the training process. Medicine Club members learn to inject shots, use a stethoscope, and create a fake wound from various ingredients. 

When: Friday, January 16th, 2015 after school from 3:10 to 5:10. 

Where: Saint Thomas West Hospital. (4220 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205)

Why: This tour will help students understand the curriculum involved in becoming a nurse.

Pharmacy and Nuclear Medicine Tour 

What: Medicine Club members visit a pharmacist's area of work. 

When: Friday, February 13th, 2015, after school from 3:10 to 5:10. 

Where: Saint Thomas West Hospital. (4220 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205)

Why: Students will improve their understanding in pharmacy.

Shadow a Dentist 

What: Medicine Club members shadow specialists at the Snodgrass-King dentistry. 

When: Thursday, March 19th, 2015, from 9AM to 11AM. 

Where: Snodgrass-King Pediatric Dental Associates (125 Cool Springs Blvd #140, Franklin, TN 37067)

Why: Students will explore dentistry in a more in-depth manner.
